The atmosphere here is welcoming and unpretentious, allowing diners to relax and enjoy their meal at one of the few bench seats if they choose to eat in. The Village Fish & Chips is not just a takeout option; it's a part of the local community where each meal is crafted with care and served with a smile.

Most would take away. We ate in the shop, there were 4 seats at the bench table. I particularly liked the chips. Nice fish and chips around the neighborhood.

I usually crave doner and chips, and I have to say that the doner in the north of England is generally much better. The seasoning there tends to be stronger and smoother, giving it that perfect flavor and texture. That said, I still often order doner and chips when I’m in the south, and this particular fish and chip shop has become one of my go-to spots. One thing I’ve noticed about many places in South London is that both the doner and the fish and chips can sometimes fall short, but this place actually does a very good job. The fish, in particular, is handled properly, and they remove the skin before frying, which makes a huge difference. It gives the fish a cleaner, lighter taste and makes it feel much fresher. For my fish and chip cravings, I usually come here mainly for the doner, and then I often order a small piece of fish on the side. A small suggestion for improvement would be the tea cakes. They tend to be a bit on the dry side, and I think they would be much better if they were softer and buttered more generously. It is a minor detail, but it would make a noticeable difference. Overall, this is a solid fish and chip shop and one that I recommend, especially for their doner. The lamb doner is my personal favorite, as it has more depth of flavor than the chicken one. The portions are fair, the quality is good, and it’s consistently satisfying. For a casual meal that hits that doner and chips craving, this place is definitely worth visiting.

My order was taken very efficiently. I felt confident I was getting what I asked for, and I did! It's location makes it perfectly placed to order food whilst drinking a pint at the red lion. I started my pint. Popped over to order, found that my food would be ready in 6 to 7 mins. I continued with my pint and returned 10 minutes later. My food was ready and hot. I returned to finish my pint, the rest you can guess.
